LHI Honored as Best SME Exporter at 27ᵗʰ Presidential Export Awards

Lanka Hydraulic Institute (LHI) is proud to announce that it has been honored with the prestigious “Best SME Exporter of the Year Award” at the 27ᵗʰ Presidential Export Awards Ceremony, held at the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall (BMICH), Colombo, on 11 December 2025. This remarkable achievement marks a significant milestone for LHI and stands as a testament to its growing global presence and excellence in the export sector.

The Presidential Export Awards (PEA) represent the highest national recognition conferred by the Government of Sri Lanka to exporters who demonstrate outstanding performance and make exceptional contributions to the country’s export growth and economic development. The 27ᵗʰ ceremony, organized by the Sri Lanka Export Development Board (EDB), celebrated Sri Lanka’s top exporters for the financial year 2024/2025, with 107 awards presented across overall, product, and service categories.

Award recipients were selected through a rigorous evaluation process based on key performance indicators including export revenue, market diversification, employment generation, environmental sustainability, and value addition. This national recognition reaffirms LHI’s commitment to technical excellence, innovation, and sustainable development, while strengthening Sri Lanka’s reputation in the global engineering and consultancy arena.

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of LHI, Eng. Janaka Kurukulasuriya, expressed that the award is a proud moment for LHI, recognizing the institute’s dedication and contributions on a global scale. He further stated, “This recognition is a testament to our unwavering commitment to excellence in the export sector and the growing impact of LHI’s engineering consultancy services in the international market. In recent years, we have expanded our global presence by undertaking numerous foreign consultancy projects, delivering innovative and high-quality solutions to our clients.” Mr. Kurukulasuriya added, “With the ongoing development of our infrastructure, including a new state-of-the-art flume for larger-scale physical modeling projects, LHI is primed to further enhance its capabilities, provide cutting-edge solutions, and continue serving clients around the world. We continue our service for the betterment of society,” he said.
