Water Resources Projects

Greater Matale Water Supply Project (GMWSP) is implemented by National Water Supply & Drainage Board (NWS&DB) to improve the water quantity, quality and expand the service areas of existing Water Supply Schemes and include some new areas in Matale, Ukuwela, Rattota, Naula, Yatawatta, Pallepola, and Ambanganga Korale. The Main Project - GMWSP is divided into four main sub projects, namely Matale, Ukuwela – Udatenna, Ambanganga and Rattota. It has been planned to extract water from Sudu Ganga and Amban Ganga for three (Matale, Udatenna and Rajagammana) water supply schemes under the project.
